Description

I wanted to create tasks for students, which could be completed in active involvement.Students use higher-order thinking skills by having students explore content through tracking data, identifying patterns, interacting with maps, sorting information, and learning problems and solutions.Students participate in applying creativity, evaluation, and analyzing abilities—motivation increases in giving students autonomy within each page of the notebook.

The following NGSS are addressed:

3-ESS2-1 Earth's Systems

Represent data in tables and graphical displays to describe typical weather conditions expected during a particular season.

3-ESS2-2 Earth's Systems

Obtain and combine information to describe climates in different regions of the world.

3-ESS3-1 Earth and Human Activity

Make a claim about the merit of a design solution that reduces the impacts of a weather-related hazard.*

NGSS3-ESS3-1
Make a claim about the merit of a design solution that reduces the impacts of a weather-related hazard. Examples of design solutions to weather-related hazards could include barriers to prevent flooding, wind resistant roofs, and lighting rods.
NGSS3-ESS2-1
Represent data in tables and graphical displays to describe typical weather conditions expected during a particular season. Examples of data could include average temperature, precipitation, and wind direction. Assessment of graphical displays is limited to pictographs and bar graphs. Assessment does not include climate change.
NGSS3-ESS2-2
Obtain and combine information to describe climates in different regions of the world.
