Description

NEW* Linked to new 2020 Ontario Math Curriculum Expectations

What’s Inside this Package?

-Parent note explaining Learning Goals and Assessment Feedback Sheets

-Learning Goals for the beginning of each Math Unit/Strand

-Assessment Feedback Sheets for each Math Unit/Strand (requesting parent/guardian signature)

At the beginning of each Math Unit/Strand, I provide the students with Learning Goals. These learning goals are what we will be working on throughout the unit. It indicates to the student what they will learn and have to know. I often will also send home the Learning Goals with the students so that their parents/ guardians are aware of the new math unit, as well as what they will be required/expected to learn.

I will ask students to glue/insert a copy of their goals into the notebook/ duotang/binder. As we learn or accomplish goals, students can check it off their list.

At the end of the unit (or throughout, depending on the amount of goals), I will send home Assessment Feedback Sheets. These are the learning goals indicating what each child/student was successful with and what they may need more work on. I will also note if they “got it”, were “almost there” or “not yet”. This, at times, will replace a mark, as this feedback is a lot more helpful, long term and better serves the students progress moving forward. If this is the end of the unit, I will include a “final mark” for the unit, to show parents/guardians what the students overall mark was (i.e. report card mark), so they are not blindsided come report card time. I require parents/guardians sign this assessment feedback sheet, and return it to school, so that I know they are aware of their child’s struggles and successes.

Thank you for taking a look!
