Description
⚔️ Math Quest is the ONLY digital math review game that saves student progress, tracks data in Google Sheets, and teaches step-by-step problem solving — all in a D&D-style RPG your students will beg to play. This isn't a slideshow. This is a complete end-of-year review system.
★ WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT FROM EVERY OTHER MATH GAME ★
Other TpT review games:
✘ Progress disappears when the browser closes
✘ No teacher data — you grade manually or guess
✘ Students see the answer but never learn HOW to solve
✘ One-time use — no reason to replay
✘ Requires PowerPoint, Google Slides, or special software
Math Quest:
✅ Auto-saves after every single answer — students resume days later
✅ Google Sheet fills automatically with accuracy, time, mentor views per student
✅ Detailed step-by-step mentor walkthrough when students answer wrong
✅ 8+ achievement badges, treasure chests, HP system — students replay for mastery
✅ Runs in any browser on any device — Chromebooks, iPads, phones
No other product on TpT combines all of these features. We checked.
★ THE GAME — 8 REALMS COVERING ALL TESTED STANDARDS ★
Students are heroes on a quest to defeat monsters across 8 realms. Each realm covers one high-frequency end-of-year test standard. To advance, students must answer questions correctly. Wrong answers trigger a step-by-step mentor that teaches the full solving process — then students retry with a similar question.
🌿 Realm 1: Fraction Forest (5.NF.1) — Add & Subtract Fractions
⛰️ Realm 2: Multiply Mountain (5.NF.4) — Multiply Fractions
🐍 Realm 3: Decimal Swamp (5.NBT.7) — Decimal Operations
🐉 Realm 4: Division Dungeon (5.NF.7) — Divide with Fractions
🏰 Realm 5: Order Castle (5.OA.1) — Order of Operations
🌋 Realm 6: Volume Volcano (5.MD.3-5) — Volume & Measurement
🏔️ Realm 7: Coordinate Canyon (5.G.1-2) — Coordinate Plane
🏯 Realm 8: Geometry Fortress (5.G.3-4) — Classify 2D Shapes
Each realm has 15 questions (8 needed to clear) across 3 difficulty levels, with extras for retries. That's 100+ questions total with step-by-step mentor explanations for every single one.
★ HOW THE MENTOR SYSTEM WORKS ★
This is what sets Math Quest apart from Prodigy and every other math game: when a student gets a question wrong, they don't just see the answer — they see EXACTLY how to solve it.
Example for 5/6 + 3/4:
→ Step 1: Denominators are different (6 and 4)
→ Step 2: Find the LCD — list multiples of both
→ Step 3: Convert 5/6 to 10/12 (multiply top & bottom by 2)
→ Step 4: Convert 3/4 to 9/12 (multiply top & bottom by 3)
→ Step 5: Add numerators: 10/12 + 9/12 = 19/12
→ Step 6: Identify as improper fraction
→ Step 7: Convert to mixed number: 1 7/12
After seeing the walkthrough, the student retries with a similar question on the same concept — so they immediately practice what they just learned. This is real teaching, not just drilling.
★ GAME FEATURES STUDENTS LOVE ★
• HP System — Start with 100 HP. Wrong answers cost 10 HP. HP = 0 triggers a 5-question recovery round focused on their weakest concept. No student gets permanently stuck.
• Treasure Chests — 15% chance after correct answers. Find Shield (skip a question), Hint Potion (eliminate 2 wrong answers), or Health Potion (+20 HP). Items are used strategically through the Inventory button.
• Achievement Badges — 8+ badges including Independent Scholar (0 mentor views), Quick Learner (correct after mentor), Perfectionist (100% accuracy), Marathon Runner, Repeat Champion, Accuracy King, and more. Pop-up toast notifications when unlocked.
• Avatar Picker — 8 avatars to choose from at game start.
• Dual Timer — Session timer resets each login. Lifetime timer tracks total play across all sessions.
• Play Again — After completing all realms, replay for more practice. Achievements and lifetime stats carry over.
★ WHAT TEACHERS GET ★
Your Google Sheet automatically fills with data for every student:
• Real name + hero name (for looking up forgotten ones)
• Which realm they're on and how many questions they've completed
• Accuracy percentage per realm
• Number of times the mentor explanation appeared
• Total time played across all sessions
• XP earned, badges unlocked, quest completions
Use this data to:
→ Form small groups based on weakest standard
→ Identify which students need reteaching vs. enrichment
→ Track growth over the review period
→ Show parents concrete data at conferences
PLUS — a built-in "Teacher Tools" panel inside the game itself (protected by an admin code only you know) lets you rename a student's real name or hero name from any device in seconds. No need to log into the Sheet, no manual spreadsheet edits. Fixes for typos, inappropriate names, and duplicates take 10 seconds.
★ WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE COMPLETE BUNDLE ★
This is not just a game — it's a complete 4-week review system:

(It shows you how to set up the free version, the full version is the same way)
★ SETUP — 4 STEPS, ABOUT 5 MINUTES ★
The new v3 setup is faster than ever:
1. Open script.google.com → New project
2. Paste Code.gs.txt → set your CLASS_CODE and ADMIN_CODE (one line each, at the top of the file)
3. Add a new HTML file named "index" → paste index.html.txt
4. Deploy as a web app with access set to "Anyone" → share the URL
That's it. No Google Sheet to pre-create. No Sheet ID to copy and paste. The game creates its own Sheet in your Drive automatically on the first save. No subscription. No app store. No accounts to manage. No ongoing cost. One purchase, full access for your entire class, forever.
★ STUDENT LOGIN — DEAD SIMPLE ★
One screen. Two boxes. Real name + class code. That's it.
• No PIN to forget
• No player code to invent
• No "returning vs. new player" choice — the system figures it out
Day 1: Type real name + class code → pick a hero name and avatar → start playing.
Day 2 onward: Type same real name + same class code → "Welcome back, [hero name]! Is this you?" → click Yes → resume exactly where they left off.
If two students happen to type the same name, the second student sees the first student's hero name on the "Is this you?" screen, clicks "No, I'm a different student," and adds a last name or initial to set themselves apart. No data overwrites.
★ PERFECT FOR ★
• End-of-year RISE / state test review (2-4 weeks before testing)
• Math centers and station rotations
• Independent practice while you pull small groups
• Early finisher activity with built-in accountability and data
• Homework that students actually want to do
• Sub plans that run themselves with zero prep
★ STUDENT PRIVACY ★
• No student email addresses collected — ever
• Students log in with their real name plus a class code you set
• No third-party servers, no ads, no tracking
• All data stays in YOUR Google Sheet — nothing leaves your account
• You can reset, rename, or remove any student in seconds (built-in teacher tools)
★ STANDARDS ALIGNMENT ★
Aligned to:
• Common Core State Standards (5.NF.1, 5.NF.4, 5.NF.7, 5.NBT.7, 5.OA.1, 5.MD.3-5, 5.G.1-2, 5.G.3-4)

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ★
Q: Is this different from Prodigy?
A: Yes. Prodigy provides minimal hints when students get answers wrong. Math Quest shows a complete step-by-step solving walkthrough. Prodigy requires paid subscriptions for full features ($120+/year). Math Quest is a one-time purchase with zero paywalls. Prodigy is designed for homework. Math Quest is designed for classroom use with teacher data tracking.
Q: Do students need email addresses or Google accounts?
A: No. They type their real name plus the class code you set. That's all.
Q: What's the admin code for?
A: It's a separate teacher-only code (different from the class code students use). You type it inside the game to access the built-in Teacher Tools panel, which lets you rename a student's real name or hero name from any device. Without the admin code, students can see the "Teacher Tools" link but can't do anything with it.
Q: Can students play at home?
A: Yes. They can access the game from any device with the web app URL and the class code.
Q: How long does the game take to complete?
A: Most students complete all 8 realms in 3-4 hours of total play time, spread across multiple sessions over 2-4 weeks.
Q: Can I use this with multiple class periods?
A: Yes. All students share one Google Sheet. Either give each period the same class code and use a naming convention in real names (e.g., "P3-Emma"), or deploy separate copies of the script — one per period — each with its own class code. The single-deployment approach is simpler; the per-period approach keeps data fully separated.
Q: What if a student typed an inappropriate name or a typo?
A: Open the game on your phone or laptop, scroll to the bottom of the login or map screen, click "Teacher Tools," and type your admin code. You'll see a roster of every student in your current class who has logged in (with a search box to find a student fast). Find the student, click "Rename Real" or "Rename Hero" on their row, type the new name, submit. Takes about 10 seconds. If they were mid-session, a real-name rename returns them to the login screen on their next save so they pick up under the new name cleanly. A hero-name rename is non-disruptive — they keep playing and the new hero name shows on their HUD after the next answer.
Q: What if I need to reset a student's progress?
A: Open your Google Sheet, find their row, delete it. They'll start fresh on their next login. Or open the Sheet's "Math Quest" menu → "Reset a student."
Q: Is this worth buying if I already have the free demo?
A: The free demo covers 1 standard with 15 questions. The full version covers ALL 8 high-frequency standards with 120 questions, plus the in-game Teacher Tools panel, plus the option to bundle with the companion slide deck, worksheets, teacher dashboard, and implementation guide. If your students loved Fraction Forest, they'll love the full quest.
