Description
You must have an account with Google to use this resource. This resource works very well either in your classroom, or with distance learning or homeschooled students, with Google Classroom. In this check in, students will be matching operations (addition and subtraction) to vertical number lines. This is a complement to Rational Numbers Check In 5, which matches horizontal number lines to integers and operations.
Vertical number lines work exactly the same way as horizontal number lines, but may throw students off because they are used to thinking horizontally – numbers rising from the right to the left.
This includes three short Google Form quizzes you can use to help your students match vertical number lines and operations. I recommend it after Grade 6 Rational Numbers Guided Notes 2, which explains how to show and work with integers on the number line. Rational Numbers Worksheet 2 has similar problems to the Guided Notes, and Rational Numbers Check In 4 and Check In 5 also have practice problems related to the Guided Notes. Grade 6 Rational Numbers Practice Problems is the only other resource that has vertical number lines.
You can save 30% by buying Grade 6 Rational Numbers Lesson 2, which includes all these products.
6.NS.C Rational Numbers Check In 6 includes four questions. 6.NS.C Rational Numbers Check In 6a and 6.NS.C Rational Numbers Check In 6b each include two of the four questions. Every question is required and the students’ work is graded on the spot.
Good times to use this:
1) Review from older concepts
2) Warmup for the day
3) Application of knowledge (middle or end of the period)
