Each unit contains an editable set of Google Slides designed for student groups of four. Although students complete their work independently, the group becomes interdependent—success relies on everyone participating, cooperating, and thinking critically about vocabulary.
Activity Overview
Each student receives:
- 1 Task Card
- 6 Vocabulary Cards
The goal: Correctly place all 6 vocabulary cards onto the appropriate spots on the task card.
Students may or may not start with the cards they need—so strategic trading and teamwork become essential!
A Quizlet link is provided for every unit so students can review the vocabulary terms before or after completing the task.
Game Structure & Directions
Phase One – Independent (3 minutes, No Talking)
- Work in complete silence.
- Each student completes their own task card—no helping or showing.
- Students may silently trade vocabulary cards using nonverbal cues.
- Trade as many times as needed.
- The group isn’t finished until all four task cards are complete.
Phase Two – Independent Rotation (3 minutes, No Talking)
- Students leave their vocabulary placements as-is, then rotate one seat left.
- Students now check or complete the new task card in front of them.
- Again, silent trading is allowed.
- If a card is incorrect, it affects the entire team—accuracy matters!
Phase Three – Interdependent (3 minutes, Talking Allowed)
- Students rotate left once more.
- Now the entire team can talk, collaborate, and problem-solve together.
- Complete all four task cards as a group.
- When confident all cards are correct, raise your hands as a team.
