Description
This GOOGLE SLIDE resource includes 118 slides of lessons for your Grade 8 Data Management and Probability Unit!
Each lesson is broken down into an introductory activity, with the aim of getting students into the mathematical mindset, and to review Number Sense. Each lesson then describes the Learning Goal and Success Criteria for each lesson. Each concept is explained through words AND examples. Each lesson includes a Teacher Guided, Teacher Supported and Self-Guided examples. In my class, I complete the Teacher Guided question with the students, and we discuss the various methods to solve the question. During the Teacher Supported example, students attempt to complete the question independently, but teacher support is still given (In times of distance learning, I use Screencastify to create a video of me solving the problem so that students can receive support simultaneously). During the self-guided question, students attempt to complete independently, and I use these results to determine if further explicit teaching is required for the class or small groups of students.
Within this bundle, there are various other activities included:
- An exercise in Probability - A physical activity resource where students calculate the experimental probability of achieving a success event in their exercise.
- An exercise in Measures of Central Tendency - A physical activity resource where students calculate the mean, median and mode of their physical activity results.
- Final Assignment for Data Analysis - A 3-level differentiated resource for teachers to assign to students at the end of the Data Management unit. Students work with simple or complex data to determine if the Census at School project is inherently biased.
This bundle has all you need to teach Grade 8 Probability and Data Management both in class and through distance learning!
