Description

Engage students with real-world data analysis using this 10-page, black-and-white “Summer Influencer Analytics: Viral Growth Lab” worksheet pack. Designed for Grade 8, this resource transforms math into a modern, high-interest simulation where students analyze social media growth, engagement, and monetization using algebra, percent, and data modeling.

This is not a set of disconnected worksheets. Each page builds on a consistent dataset featuring three influencers, allowing students to track follower growth, analyze trends, model linear relationships, evaluate viral spikes, and make data-driven decisions. The connected structure creates a realistic and high-rigor learning experience that mirrors real-world analytics.

Students progress through increasingly complex tasks, including scientific notation, percent change, linear modeling, graph interpretation, and financial reasoning. Each worksheet includes 10 structured questions, with the final question requiring explanation, justification, or strategic thinking.

All worksheets are black-and-white, print-friendly, and formatted for US Letter (8.5 × 11). Each page includes a scenario box, data section, 10 complete-sentence questions, and one clean line-art illustration.

Construct and interpret scatter plots for bivariate measurement data to investigate patterns of association between two quantities. Describe patterns such as clustering, outliers, positive or negative association, linear association, and nonlinear association.
Know that straight lines are widely used to model relationships between two quantitative variables. For scatter plots that suggest a linear association, informally fit a straight line, and informally assess the model fit by judging the closeness of the data points to the line.
Use the equation of a linear model to solve problems in the context of bivariate measurement data, interpreting the slope and intercept. For example, in a linear model for a biology experiment, interpret a slope of 1.5 cm/hr as meaning that an additional hour of sunlight each day is associated with an additional 1.5 cm in mature plant height.
