Description

This is a collection of twenty graphs and charts that your students can fill in. I use them at the beginning of the school year as another way to get to know my students. But they can be used anytime, especially as part of a graphing/charting unit.

I glue each graph to a piece of construction paper, and then laminate them all. I sprinkle them around the room, and let students move from graph to graph. Students use vis-à-vis markers to mark their names or initials.

After the graphs are filled in, consider assigning one completed graph to a pair of students or an individual student. Have them analyze the data shown and present their analysis to the class. This is a great chance to teach students to use fractions or to have them use their prior knowledge of fractions/decimals/percents. For example, 21/30 (70%) members of the class are wearing shorts, 6/30 (20%) are wearing pants, 3/30 people (10%) are wearing a skirt or dress, and no one is wearing capris.

At the end of this activity, I clean the graphs off, store them, and use them the following year!
