Description

Topics covered:
Finding slope from two points.
Solving for the y-intercept.
Finding the equation of a line in slope intercept form.
Graphing points.
Graphing lines from an equation in slope intercept form.
Following directions.
Explaining work clearly, in writing.

This download includes all directions and handouts/templates needed for a multi-day graphing project, as well as a grading rubric and an example of a finished product (which also serves as an answer key).

This project can be modified to take as few 2 class days, or as many as 7, depending on your needs. Students will follow directions and make choices to create a unique graph/picture, and then write directions so that someone could recreate their picture (completed directions are traded between students). Students will also make calculations to find the slope and equations of the lines in their picture.

The finished product is a colorful poster that will look great displayed in your classroom or in a hallway.
