Description

Looking for a creative and easy-to-use teaching tool to help your students master basic piecewise functions? Check out this gallery walks ready-to-use format, including 12 unique piecewise functions students must graph, a student recording sheet (with coordinate planes included), and an answer key.

To play:

1) Cut each question page in half to separate the question boxes.

Hang the 12 questions around the classroom.

2) Divide students up into groups of 2-3 students. Make enough copies of the recording sheets for each student or each group of students.

3) Assign each group a starting number. (Ex. Group 1 may start at problem 3, group 2 at problem 4, etc….If you only have enough students for 8/10 groups, that is fine! Don’t worry about it!)

Each group of students will begin at their assigned spot. They will work together to solve the problem on the card, and record their answers on the recording sheet.

4) Set a timer for 3-5 min. Once the timer rings students will rotate (like a carousel) and solve the next problem. Students will continue rotating until they have completed each problem.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, etc, please email me at: randi@4theloveofmath.com

Thank you!
