Description
You've taught students how to READ graphs and how to MAKE graphs in isolation. Can they apply that knowledge?
Here's your chance to find out.
Here is Mathville again. (The same Mathville from my integrated unit with In/Out boxes) The citizens need to persuade people to move to their city and they are hiring your students to create a brochure. They need them to turn data into graphs. They will be expected to use the data given to make a bar graph, double bar graph, line graph, line plot, and pictograph to go on their brochure.
There is a student checklist and a Teacher Grading Sheet.
Here's your chance to find out.

CCSS4.MD.B.4
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
CCSS5.MD.B.2
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given different measurements of liquid in identical beakers, find the amount of liquid each beaker would contain if the total amount in all the beakers were redistributed equally.
