Description

Here is a note and assessment I created for my grade 12 class on graphing rational functions. It breaks down how to accurately sketch holes, vertical, horizontal and oblique asymptotes as well as x- and y-intercepts when given the equation of a rational function. I included both a pdf and word document so they are editable. I also included an answers key for the assessment as well as a blank and filled in version of the note.

The assessment includes 4 graphing questions, each worth 10 marks. Each rational function presents a different situation. I broke each question down into 7 parts to make answering and marking the questions very clear. This assessment can be used as an assignment or quiz. I also use the same formatting of questions in my unit test and exam.

As a teacher, finding resources that truly resonate with my students can be challenging, especially when dealing with concepts like functions. However, I recently came across a math resource that transformed the way I approached this topic, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results!
