Description

This is a one page test quickly covering these standards:

K.G.3, 1.G.4, 2.G.10

This test is designed to be quick and painless for your students. They do not have to answer tons of questions on the same topic, but rather do a few to prove their understanding. Also, this test covers 3 grade levels of standards. This is to see if the child has the previous year's standards mastered or if they need to be retaught something from the previous year. This also helps to see if the child is ready for the next grade's standard on the same topic.

Additionally, students can take this test completely independently...even if they can't read! This test comes with a QR code which when scanned, takes them to a video of me reading and explaining the directions for each part of the test. They can pause the video as they are filling in their answers or rewind to rewatch the directions a second (or fifth!) time.

By design, the test goes up in difficulty as you go down the page. Often, if I see my students are struggling with the higher standards (especially on the pre-test), I have them stop mid-way through the test. They don't need to finish - you just grade what they have done to see what they are ready to learn. The kindergarten standards are always at the top, followed by the first grade standards in the middle and the second grade standards on the bottom.

At the top of the test is also a feature that lets you circle if this is a pre or post test. I like to give these to my first graders before teaching them any of the material on the page so I can see where their ability level lies on the given topic. This helps me to ability base group them and form small groups to meet each kid where they are in their learning. This red oval is movable on the test, or just delete it if you want to fill it in by hand.

There are also small score lines for the teacher at the side of each section. The score lines have the standard that matches the problem, which is perfect for standards-based grading. If you do not like them, simply delete!

Did you also know that this test is completely editable by you? If you don't like something on the test or want to add some more things for your kiddos, you can!

My kids don't complain about taking math tests anymore because they really do find these simple and quick to do in class. I love them because they are completely independent and I can focus on teaching a small group during math time instead of proctoring a test. It's a win-win!

Be sure to check out my other math assessments in my store; I have a lot of topics!
