This activity can be used to complement the Graphs-o-Mots French Phonics program or as stand alone activity to provide targeted practice of students' French reading skills.

Each instructional activity is designed to have students apply the following skills:
- Decoding
- Word Fluency
Activity Summary:
Students try to keep the beat of a metronome while reading 6 words. The goal is to by reading each target word at 1 word/second. Set the metronome to a beat that the student can read each word accurately and then gradually increase the bpm (beats per minute) on the metronome with each reading and see if they can be quicker without compromising accuracy! The teacher can also adjust the complexity of the target word depending on the student's goal. For example a student in first grade may be attempting to read CVCV words where a student in third grade may be improving their fluency at reading 3+ syllable words "big words".
The decodable words are organized to provide systematic and explicit instruction of the sounds introduced in the Graphs-o-Mots learning blocks. They are:
Block 1: s, t, m, l, a, e, i
Block 2: r, d, c, p, n, o, u
Block 3: v, f, b, j, g, q, é
Block 4: y, z, w, k, on, ou, oi
Block 5: h, ch, en, ai, au/eau
Block 6: x, un, an, eu, ien, ain
