Description
It is difficult to show a use for multiplying fractions that seems both fun and real. In this activity, students learn about a "multi-ray" which changes the size of an object. When the multi-ray is set to more than 1, it is enlarged. When it is set to between 0 and 1, it is made smaller. This activity starts by teaching the concept of scaling by whole numbers, then scales a whole number by a fraction, then a fraction by a whole number, and finally a fraction by a fraction. This activity includes a "constructed response" section where students compare each part of the activity. This product now includes "Multi-Rays" for you and your students to use to practice growing and shrinking using fractions!

Two worksheets and some clipart? For $4.95? Come on. Not even an explanation of what you could do with the lasers as a class activity? Very disappointed.
A funny way to introduce this concept.
Great!
ty
Great visuals for a hard-to-teach concept. Thank you
Fun item.
The kids were exciting to do this activity!
I enjoyed this lesson, as did my students! So much fun pretending to shrink and grow fractions!
Wait, you only got to pretend? Did the shrink rays not work as advertised? :)
