Growth Mindset is a way of thinking that encourages perseverance, self-confidence, and skill. It is a process by which we focus on the journey and not on the destination. A Fixed Mindset, on the other hand, is a way of looking at yourself with ‘fixed ‘ traits. You may believe that inborn talent means success.
This thinking prevents you (and your brain muscle) from growing (and learning) because your negative thoughts are blocking the brain from absorbing new information.
Students hear the word "Algebra" and think it's math in a foreign language. This lesson will calm their fears and develops their confidence with Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset approach.
This lesson in Foundations of Algebra will make students believe that they can understand!!
It will build students' confidence with easy to understand concepts in:
Identifying variables, coefficients and constants.
Evaluating algebraic expressions.
Evaluating algebraic expressions to solve a real-world word problems (Applications with formulas).
