Description
“Guessing Jar” or “Estimation Jar” activities are an absolutely joyful and multi-skill “bang for your buck” activity! Much research has been done that suggests that students who have worked with estimation and reasoning their answers have performed better on achievement testing. As I continue to be inspired, my approach has evolved. I'm thrilled with my approach now and how many math skills each lesson incorporates!
These resources allow for differentiation! Teachers can create the problems they want certain students to complete and/or students can create their own problems within the structure of the problem. Due to the differentiated nature of the worksheets, they can be used more than once for the same skill!
You can use the Guessing Jar Activity for informal assessments as the kids put the number line together and analyze it. Formal assessments can be made from their completed worksheet. Assessment sheets are a BONUS in the BIG bundle!
In this resource...
- Measuring Inches & Centimeters
- Nonstandard Measurement
- Comparing Masses
- Equal Masses
- Metric Mass Word Problems
- Create a graph using class data (Bar, Pictograph, Line Plot, Tally)
- Every worksheet includes quick practice with place value!
Grab the BUNDLE for ALL SIX units as well as BONUS RESOURCES!
