Description

This packet includes 50 of the first 100 Fry Words. It excludes the words “a” and “I”. These are designed to be used with beginning readers during guided reading lessons. At this stage, word work often focuses on sight words that are frequently used in the text that is being taught. These word work pages are effective and require little prep. All you do is choose a word work page that covers a word that is in the text, print and go! Once, students learn the word work routine this will make your word work sessions easy and effective! Students will also master their sight words by making, writing and applying the new words to the text.

Prep:

Choose a word work page that covers a sight word that is used in the text being taught. Copy, cut in half and give one to each student in your reading group.

Directions:

Students will...

1.Cut out the letters on the dotted lines.

2.Make the word, read it and then mix it up again. They will repeat this three times.

3.Glue the letters in the boxes to make the word.

4.Write the word in the box.

5.Take a word hunt in the book to see how many times they can find the word on their word work page. They will write tally marks or numbers to show how many times they found the word work word in the text
