Description

Needing a guided reading writing activity to use in small reading groups? This journal will serve your purpose! It was created to be used weekly and with any book/theme you chose to study that week! This journal includes three paper options, including Handwriting Without Tears paper.

Included:

  • Cover page
  • Single lines template option
  • Three lines template option
  • Handwriting Without Tears template option
  • Differentiated paper
  • Self-Check boxes at the bottom of each page

How would I use this in my small groups?

I print a journal for each of my students and they keep them in their book bags. During my small group guided reading lessons, our weekly schedule has us writing on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I choose a writing prompt based on the book(s) we read and then my students write to that prompt. I love using this journal as we are able to keep all of our writing in one place. It's easy for students to flip back and look at their growth as the year progresses! Lots of celebrations!

I love this writing journal! Do you have more writing resources?
