Attempting to teach HMH's Into Reading curriculum can seem a bit overwhelming at first given the vast number of resources and daily lesson pieces. This Google Slides presentation distils each day of Grade 5, Module 3 (Natural Disasters) into a student-facing presentation that can fit into a 60-minute Reading block.

The Module is designed to be taught over 15 days, with emphasis given to Tier 2 vocabulary development, reading and re-visiting the anchor texts, writing in response to texts, and making use of the selection quizzes. The presentation is Universally Designed, giving students choice in how they practice their vocabulary skills, and reminiscent of the Daily 5 Cafe with students choosing what reading/writing activities to focus on when their assigned work is complete.

Lastly, this product can only be used as a supplement to the Into Reading curriculum. It does not function on it's own as an independent material set.
