Description

This is a HTML and CSS Mini Recipe Project that I use after teaching HTML and CSS from CODEHS. Although it can be used with any program as long as students are familiar with basic HTML and CSS Skills. I give students three 45-minute class periods to complete this project.

The project gives students creative control of a one-page website on their favorite recipe. The project includes requirements of what tags to use and what CSS classes and ids that are required.

Note: This project requires that students understand the below concepts:

  • HTML BASIC STRUCTURE
  • CSS STYLING BY TAG, CLASS and ID
  • CSS STYLE PROPERTIES
  • HTML IMAGES, TABLES, LISTS, LINKS
  • HTML ANCHOR TAGS

Included are TWO versions of the Project with Instructions, a suggested rubric, and two student example pages. There is also a bonus product inside which is a Powerpoint of Extra Project Resources such as how to change a cursor, how to make a favicon, how to do anchor tags and so much more!

The rubric I use is a holistic rubric and non-points based. I find this works better in Web Design to really gauge the understanding of student skills. It also makes it faster to grade!

Please let me know if there are any questions.

I am using this now with my students in Web Page Design. It is a fun activity that they can work on together and get ideas from classmates. They are able to learn new codes and use codes they previously learned. Great Activity.
