Description

Common Core Math Meetings are a great way to ensure that your students are exposed to the 1st Grade Common Core Anchor Standards each and every day. Each page correlates with one of ten anchor standards. Translation: your students will practice 10 Common Core essential skills every day!
This allows you and your students the opportunity to recognize where they may need help and provides a spiral review of essential first grade skills, regardless of the math lesson you are teaching that day. I begin each math lesson with a Common Core Math Meeting and year after year my students have declared it their favorite time of day. The Meetings work well with any math series. You can use the Math Meetings however you would like in order to best meet the needs of your specific classroom but I have also included directions on how I incorporate the Math Meetings into my own routine.
The theme for the Math Meeting each week correlates with the Reading Street series or with specific holidays. However, the Math Meetings are a great resource regardless of your reading series!
The Common Core Math Meetings are a perfect way to ensure that you are incorporating the aspects of the Danielson Framework into your teaching, as they encourage the use of various resources, the sharing of strategies, and self-assessment. As students become more familiar with the Math Meetings, they can even take turns leading the Math Meeting for the day, which is a great way to incorporate student ownership into your math instruction.
Looking for a way to differentiate your Math Meetings? Check out the Challenge Cards that are available in my store!
This is a special Halloween-themed Math Meeting. You will receive 4 days worth of meetings! Enjoy!
