Description

Students practice translations, reflections, and rotations with this transformation puzzle that's perfect for Halloween, after a test, or just for extra practice.

A graph is provided with 29 shapes along with instructions for transforming each one. If each transformation is applied correctly, the pumpkins become decorated on the student's answer sheet.

The transformations are mostly one-step, including rotating around the origin and reflecting over an axis. For a challenge, a few two-step transformations and reflecting over a vertical or horizontal line are included.

This activity is a great way to practice rigid transformations, even early in your unit. Students can spin their papers to help them see rotations before drawing them on their answer sheets. Also, the puzzle helps students find their own mistakes if their pumpkin decorations do not turn out right!

Answer key is provided.

This is a great way to practice graphing and rigid transformations. I only wish they were more fall themed as our unit occurs right after Halloween.
