Description
Every kid loves to practice measuring when they get to use candy! This small group activity includes several spooky objects that your students can measure using candy corn. What fun! The best part is the tasty snack waiting for them when they finish their work!
This activity is aligned with the following common core standards:
• K.MD.1. Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
• K.MD.2. Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
Directions: Print and laminate each page (I recommend using card stock). Distribute the laminated pages to your students along with a handful of candy corn. Demonstrate how to measure using the candy. Students will then measure their spooky objects independently. Lead the group in a discussion of their findings.
Happy Measuring!
