Description

SELF-CHECKING & EASY TO GRADE, HALLOWEEN, DIGITAL ACTIVITY

Product Description: Students are tasked to help the Mayor of Halloween Town verify how many Halloween decorations she needs to buy! Given certain lines are parallel, students will find the 10 missing variables and 3 designated angles. Students will set expressions equal to each other or sum and set equal to 180º based on the Corresponding Angles Postulate, the Alternate Interior Angles Theorem, Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem, Same-Side Interior Angles Theorem, Same-Side Exterior Angles Theorem, and Vertical Angles Theorem. This is a self-checking assignment as students will submit their answers through a google form and can only move to the next section if the sum of all their answers are correct. The google form is broken down into 3 sections. This way, if students make a mistake, they can review 4-5 problems to find their mistake. The goal is to verify the correct number of Pumpkins, Broomsticks, and Skeletons the Mayor needs to buy to properly decorate Halloween Town!

Objective: Students will find the missing angles by applying the Corresponding Angles Postulate, the Alternate Interior Angles Theorem, Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem, Same-Side Interior Angles Theorem, Same-Side Exterior Angles Theorem, and the Vertical Angles Theorem.

Google Slides Directions: With this purchase, you will receive 2 links – a student version and an editable version. The student version contains a screenshot of the map. This way, students cannot accidentally move a piece not intended to be moved. The editable version allows you to edit the map if you wish.

Google Form Instructions: If purchased, use the given link to make your own copy of the google form. Once you make your own copy, you will need to adjust the settings and responses to your liking. Then, insert YOUR google form link into the designated space on the Google Slides Assignment. This allows for easy grading as you can set up the google form to self-grade and collect all responses to a google sheet.

Printable Instructions: A printable document has also been provided. Students will sum up their answers and check that it matches the sum provided.

Answer Key: An answer key is provided in the last page of this document or click the link to add the key to google drive!

Only 16% of my students are at grade level, and they REALLY enjoyed the challenge! Was too hard for May of my students, as they cannot solve for x, let alone work with variables on both sides of the equation, but hoping to change that!

This was great for an activity that students could find success with without a lot of intervention from me.
