Description

These STEM and STEAM Halloween activities are low prep, easy to differentiate, and explore a number of science and math concepts.

With 12 challenges to choose from, there is something for everyone. Use for a school-wide Halloween STEM event, Spooky STEM family night, or use some challenges this year and save some for next year!

The challenges are color-coded based on level of difficulty, so that you can choose the best activities for your students. There are also suggestions on how to make some of the tasks even more challenging. That means these activities are appropriate for a wide level of grades.

What You'll Get

  • STEM Challenge Tips: General tips for any STEM challenge.
  • Teacher Notes: includes terminology AND differentiation ideas, plus suggested materials list
  • Halloween STEM decor
  • Poster and dedicated recording page for each of the 12 main STEM challenges that guide the students through the engineering design process. (Alternate Posters with "Spooky STEM" title included, if you don't use "Halloween" at your school)
  • Printable characters or pieces where applicable.
  • 12 Engaging Challenges + 1 Bonus Challenge for lucky number 13!

✂️ Materials Needed ✂️

  • You will need basic office supplies like tape, string, card stock, and rubber bands.
  • Building bricks are recommended.
  • Inexpensive candy, such as candy corn, can be used for the candy challenges.
  • Slime requires glue, borax, and food coloring, or shaving cream and contact lens solution. You could also ask for a donation of pre-made slime to use and reuse.
  • If you would like to complete the advanced STEM challenges (completely optional), you will also need simple circuit supplies such as copper tape, button batteries, and LEDs. Many of these challenges can also be used for CAD design / 3D printing challenges if that is an option for you, such as the bell, conveyor belt, and snowball launcher.
