Give your students meaningful hands-on math activities to practice important math skills. This set includes linking cube activities. Included are linking cube color patterns, linking cube measuring, using linking cubes to measure area and more. This resource includes 6 hands-on activities with linking cubes, either in morning tubs as morning work or for math centers or early finishers!

My morning tubs aim to create activities using common classroom manipulatives and items. They are low-prep: Just print the student pages or instructions, and you are ready to go.

This set contains 6 PRINTABLE activities.

❤️Patterning Puzzlers:

  • Students create patterns with linking cubes of specific colours: red, yellow, blue, orange, pink, green, white, and brown cubes.

❤️Measuring with Cubes:

  • Students chose a measurement card and estimates and then measures how long the object on the card is with linking cubes.

❤️Make It Challenges:

  • Students use a collection of linking cubes and their imagination to create a picture of the prompt on the card.

❤️Make a Monster:

  • Students use their imaginations to make a monster like the one pictured. They choose their own block colors and record what they use when the monster is complete.

❤️Where's the Cube?:

  • This can be played in a few ways. Students can play by themselves and self-check their work by flipping the card when finished. It can be played as a barrier game with one student giving instructions and the others placing blocks on the mat according to the positional language directions.

❤️What's my Area?:

  • Students will record an estimate of how many cubes are needed to cover shape and then use the cubes to actually cover the shape to determine the area.
