This is a 2 day lesson on puberty in both males and females. There is a quick pre-assessment questionnaire that students complete before you introduce the topic so you can see what prior knowledge or misconceptions students have coming into class. This is a great introduction before students begin to study the reproductive system.

I created a simple overview PowerPoint presentation on puberty. It goes over what puberty is, how it affects both girls and boys, and health/nutrition that are associated with puberty. Along with the PowerPoint presentation students fill out a guided note sheet. The PowerPoint presentation is color-coded so students only fill out certain words on their note sheet (in this case the words are pink). This will encourage students to listen more, engage in discussion, and not worry so much about writing down everything on the board. For differentiation purposes or further understanding, I also included a three page summary regarding puberty for students to read and highlight important information.
