Description

This project is a performance based assessment task for your grade 4 Health Unit with cross curricular connections to Language, Visual Arts and Math.


Students will create a lunch menu for their school using curriculum knowledge and their own research.


In groups of 4 to 5, students are to design, write and create a healthy lunch menu that meets the needs of the students in primary and junior grades. The school population should be taken into account and adapted to accordingly. Other considerations that students will incorporate in planning their menu will be the budgeting, student age groups, allergies and presentation style.


Students will be given 3 weeks to complete the assignment; students are given a daily student planner with due dates assigned to different sections of the project in order to organize student planning in designing their menu and proposal.

Student will be evaluated through:

  • Self evaluation
  • Peer evaluation
  • Teacher conferencing/ observation
  •  Final task rubric
  •  Self-reflection mid and post task
