Born from a Real Classroom, Built for Real Kids
As a former elementary school teacher turned occupational therapist, I know the energy that bursts out of students—and the challenge of channeling it in ways that actually help them thrive. I’ve walked the halls of both general education and self-contained classrooms, from preschool to middle school, and one thing always rang true: movement matters.
When I became a school-based OT, I faced a big obstacle. I saw the rising sensory needs in our students, but my hands were tied—literally, by carpeting. Floor decals weren’t an option. So I improvised.
That’s when I started using velcro shapes to create movement pathways. They were simple. Flexible. Easy to set up, adapt, and reuse. And the best part? Kids loved them. Teachers used them. Admins noticed them. They didn’t just meet sensory needs—they brought joy back into the school day.
