Description
What started as a brief intro lesson about the Holocaust to prepare my students for reading Night by Elie Wiesel quickly became an extended research project as I attempted to answer the 49 (!) questions my first class of 8th graders had regarding WWII and the Holocaust. The more I learned, the more I realized how impossibly horrifying (and impossibly vast) this subject is. This product is my exhaustive attempt to answer the seemingly impossible “how” and “why” of the Holocaust, as well as a detailed analysis of this dark period in history.
INCLUDES:
1) A 40-slide PowerPoint introducing World War II and the Holocaust with facts, pictures, and quotes. I have included notes underneath the slides with additional information and reflections for you and your students to discuss while showing the PowerPoint. Transitions are included so that each point comes up separately, allowing easier note-taking for students. {Editable}
*Note: The only prep you will need to do prior to showing your class the PowerPoint is to preview it to ensure that age-appropriate content is shown to your students, as it does include some graphic pictures. The file is editable to ensure easy removal of any slides and/or information that you do not want included. The first two slides also include my tips, suggestions, and notes for classroom use.
2) A 25-point quiz (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blanks, and a short answer essay) on the information in the PowerPoint with an answer key included. {Editable}
3) Google Drive link with Google Slides versions of the WWI + Holocaust slideshow and quiz/answer key
Holocaust WWII PowerPoint Introduction + Quiz & Answer Key + Projects {Editable}
