"Loved these slides so much. They had great information and pictures and even speakers notes included. This was just enough information to challenge my students but not so much that it was overwhelming. I really feel like this was money well spent."

"Great resources that really help students visualize evolutionary change over time in hominids. They also address several common misconceptions about human evolution."

Description

This resource contains everything you need (engaging PowerPoint, FREE guided notes, aligned interactive WebQuest) to teach Hominin (formally hominid) evolution (I do it in a 90 minute block class). Topics discussed are what makes humans similar and what makes them different from other primates, pieces of evidence scientists use in this line of study (fossils and the molecular clock), major developmental milestones in hominin evolution (bipedalism, increased brain size, decreased jaw size, tool-making), and some of the major transitional species (Australopithecus, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, and Homo neanderthalensis).

What You Will Receive: (all resources are 100% editable)

  • A zip file containing:
    • The PowerPoint in PPTX format with 26 slides of content (please preview the entire PowerPoint above in the thumbnail section)
    • A Google Slides-friendly version of the PPT. The 3 embedded videos will be replaced with comparable pictures (Google slides has a 100MB size limit).
    • A PDF of the PowerPoint that has been watermarked and flattened for posting online (please see Terms of Use below).
    • Guided Notes. I have provided them with blanks and without blanks, in both word and PDF formats.
    • A Human Origins Webquest (about 45 minutes) - It accompanies the Smithsonian and HHMI BioInteractive Human Origins websites. Please visit the product page to see another video preview of the product.
    • A Thank You and Terms of Use page in which you can sign up for my email list and get 3 FREEBIES right away.
