This hands-on resource is designed to help preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade students distinguish between hot and cold objects. Using colorful picture cards and clear sorting mats, students will develop critical thinking and classification skills while learning about the world around them.

  • 24 Picture Cards: A wide variety of real-world items for students to sort, including:
    • Hot Items: Oven/Stove , Fire , Hot Cocoa/Coffee , Hot Air Balloon , Volcano , Toaster with Toast , Lightning , Hot Spring , Pizza , Campfire , Space Heater.

  3. Cut & Paste: Have students glue the headers onto construction paper and sort the smaller images below them.
  4. Discussion Starters: Ask questions like, "Why do we wear mittens when it's cold?" or "What happens to ice cream if it gets hot?"
