The worksheets are a combination of explanation and craft activities to learn how computers work. It can be used as a prep for coding classes or activities for STEM classes.

Contents

1. Computers around us (p2-3)

- A warm-up activity to bring up the topic of the lesson.

- Students think about computers which are used in their daily life.

*Activity: cut out pictures and place each item in one of the groups (computer / none-computer)

2. What is a computer (p4)

- A reflection activity to concrete their thoughts about computers.

*Activity: writing&drawing

3. What makes a computer a computer (p5)

- What's a computer? After the chapter, students can understand four common tasks that all computers do.

4. Hardware and software (p6)

- Students how computers work to do the four common tasks.

- Students learn examples of input, output devices, and components inside of a computer

5. The role of computer hardware (p7-8)

- Students link what they learned in chapters 3 and 4.

*Activity: cut hardware pictures and paste each of them based on different roles.

6. The role of computer software (p9)

- Students learn the role of software.

- What is the Operating System (OS) and what are applications?

8. Let's build a computer (p10-11)

- Students combine what they have learned so far through craft.

*Activity: Cut hardware and software. Paste them into the right places to make it run. They can customize their own computer by decorating it as well.

9. Designing my robot (p12-15)

- Students apply what they have learned by developing an imaginary robot.

* Activity: Brainstorming & prototyping(arts and crafts, writing)

10. Extra material - Hardware and Software cards (p16-17)
