Description

I created the How To Compare Decimals - PowerPoint for the 4.NF.7 standard, it's designed as a teaching resource that can be used when you start teaching this standard or for review..

The PowerPoint begins by revising what decimals are and where they are found on the number line. It goes through step by step of how to compare decimal numbers, those with whole numbers and those without whole numbers. Shows comparison of decimals using models and number lines. The PowerPoint gives you a couple of examples of each.

This resource includes 2 separate files:

A PowerPoint file where all pages are images – so you will NOT NEED to download any additional fonts – but you can’t edit the pages.

A PowerPoint file that is fully editable, so you can make any changes that you wish. In order to view this file you will need the Fonts below, all are free and you can download them via the links below:

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
