Description

Engage Your Students with an Interactive Human Body Systems Project!

Discover an exciting and educational Human Body Systems Project designed specifically for your students! This project features an easy-to-assemble 3-D paper model, showcasing the main human body systems, including the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, and excretory systems, along with the skeleton. It's the perfect addition to your interactive notebook, offering differentiation and valuable revision opportunities.

Knifeless "Dissection" for a Deeper Understanding

When completed, this hands-on project allows your students to explore the human body without the need for a knife or any intrusive tools. They can see precisely how the major organs are positioned relative to each other, enhancing their understanding of the human body's intricate workings. With its visually appealing design, this resource captivates students' attention and fosters an engaging learning experience.

Encouraging Creativity and Critical Thinking

To add a personal touch to their learning, students get the chance to cut out the colorful organs themselves or use the blackline versions and color them in as they desire. As they follow the provided instructions, they assemble the organs in the correct order, which can even be done as a fun and insightful homework assignment. During class time, they can collaborate and discuss their findings, promoting collaborative learning and critical thinking.

Empowering Students with Effective Note-taking

Incorporated into the project are Prospector Notes/Worksheets. These specially designed worksheets empower your students to identify and extract essential information about each body system. By engaging in this process, they take ownership of their notes and learning, making the knowledge truly stick. The teacher answer sheets are provided, ensuring a seamless learning experience.

Ideal for Revision and Reinforcement

Once the students have completed their notes, they can proudly display them by pasting them onto the foldable doors of the 3-D paper model. This transforms the foldable into an engaging and visual resource, perfect for revision and reinforcing what they have learned.

Supporting Resources for Seamless Learning

To make teaching even easier, we provide a 12-slide PowerPoint presentation to assist your students during the assembly process. The accompanying photographs showcase each stage of the model, ensuring a smooth and successful project completion.

Virtual dissection project that works perfectly when lab specimens aren't available
Rated 5 out of 5
April 22, 2026
Real dissections aren't always feasible, and this virtual dissection project offered a meaningful alternative without sacrificing the inquiry component. I used it during our human body systems unit and students were genuinely engaged throughout — the project-based structure gave them ownership of their learning rather than just following step-by-step instructions. The virtual format meant I could run it across different device setups without issues, and the systems coverage was broad enough to address most of the human biology content we cover. Students created final products that demonstrated real understanding of body system functions and interactions. The instructions are clear enough that students can work semi-independently, which freed me to facilitate rather than manage. Science teachers who need a rigorous, technology-friendly alternative to traditional dissection will find this resource well worth it.

I used this as an engagement activity with my 7th grader as a review of the body system. It was a great way to dive a little bit deeper. The "craft" portion of this activity was just involved enough to keep his interest but not be overwhelming for a non-artist kid.
