Human Body Systems for Remote Learning
Share

Description

This document is designed to be an entire week's worth of work. Each lesson is labeled as an "on demand" or "live learning" day, referring to if it is to be done in a live meeting or for the students to work on their own. It can easily be shifted and adapted to different schedules or to fit hybrid or in person learning. This "weekly learning journal" starts with an overview of human body systems including Circulatory, Respiratory, Skeletal, Muscular, Excretory, Digestive, and Nervous with links to resources, and ends with a small group or break out group (in remote meetings) session where students work together to link examples of interacting body systems.

I was able to use this as a review of interacting body systems. They were able to go through and research to expand their knowledge.

I had a student absent as we were starting to talk about body systems before going in to dissection week, and this was a great way for them to stay engaged while not being in the classroom!

This is a great resource for students. It is well organized and easy to use. I had my students complete it digitally and some may have gotten a little lost or messed up the structure a little bit. All in all a great product and will definitely use again!!

My students didn't find this resource as engaging as I thought they would. In the future, I would use it as a teaching resource instead of a cumulative review.

Hi Mallory! Thank you for the review. I could see how this might be a lot for 5th grade, but thank you for giving it a try! Hopefully you can find some better ways to use it in the future.

Used this as a way to help students make up for missing work. It was a great resource to be able to summarize the body systems.

This resource is extensive. I love that it has multiple body systems, but you can also pick and choose which aspects to incorporate in your own classroom or break them up.

Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells. Emphasis is on the conceptual understanding that cells form tissues and tissues form organs specialized for particular body functions. Examples could include the interaction of subsystems within a system and the normal functioning of those systems. Assessment does not include the mechanism of one body system independent of others. Assessment is limited to the circulatory, excretory, digestive, respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems.
