Description

"I Hear Spring" (a companion to the video of the same name) is a cumulative song template, perfect for concerts or the classroom, allowing your classes to create their own version of the song with body percussion or movement that transfers easily to percussion instruments.

Included are Rock & Roll style mp3s of the song, one with vocals and one with an accompaniment only.

PERFECT for concerts! Cumulative songs are interesting to perform, hear, and watch because of their additive nature.

Objective

The purpose of this resource is to experience a cumulative song and create movement,

body percussion, rhythms, and/or sound effects to match or represent vocabulary.

The Song

Lots of prominent half note patterns.

For the Classroom

•Students will create movement, rhythms, and sounds that represent spring vocabulary.

•Students will understand the sounds of classroom percussion instruments that represent spring vocabulary.

•Students will explore light/heavy, high/low, fast/slow, wood/metal/skin, scrape/shake/hit from classroom instruments as they relate to spring words.

For Performing

•This song has great performance opportunities because you can add riser-safe motions to the spring vocabulary.

•Cumulative songs are interesting to perform, hear, and watch because of the additive nature of them.

•Because it is repetitive, the song is easy to learn.

•Adding props for the seven spring words would be a delightful performance visual.

What reviewers have said about some Oodles of Music products

Change the World, With Kindness: "Wow. I'm so impressed. This is the most beautiful and useful resource I've ever purchased on TPT. My students have loved learning this song and its meaning. I've also learn so much about ways to teach songs to my students from here on out. I can't wait to purchase more from you! Thank you so much for your dedication to our profession and helping teachers by creating resources!"

One Piece of Pie: "Perfect fall activity. My students loved it."

Martin’s Dream of 1963:My students have enjoyed this resource, and they were engaged. I used it to go through the words in the rap and talk about the meanings of the words and how they apply to Dr. King. It turned out to be a great lesson. My 3rd-year students want to perform it at their spring concert.

Martin’s Dream of 1963: “Comprehensive and engaging resource. Easily adapted to fit needs of my classroom.”
