Description

High-interest 1-page Passage paired not only with multiple comprehension, hands-on, and critical thinking tasks, but ALSO comes with a fun bonus activity similar to a Mad-Libs fill in the blanks silly passage that will be fun to read aloud.

High-interest topic students will love reading about and be fascinated by. Super interesting & informative informational text passage explains why & how ice cream is a complex substance (It is a foamy emulsion made possible by freezing-point depression!).

Teachers have repeatedly told me how much students liked this activity because it is so engaging and relevant to real life!

Comes with several ELA and Literacy in Science activities, an answer key, and directions for easily accessing the Google Slides for easy distance learning.

ALIGNS TO SO MANY ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS STANDARDS

Students will summarize central ideas in a fun ice cream cone graphic organizer. Then they will integrate a visual that has quantitative information -- a recipe card for how to make homemade 5-minute ice cream -- and combine that knowledge with words to explain it. (They can even make the ice cream if so desired.) Perfect for getting students to integrate information presented quantitatively, visually, and in words (RST.6-8.7). Then, they will have to cite the text to support analysis. There is even a fun Mad Lib type activity in the form of a narrative they help write. Plus an easy science experiment extension if you like.

Can be used in Language Arts or in science as a "Literacy in Science" lesson.

You may like the related ice cream logic puzzle that can be used as a bellringer or free-time activity.
