Description

In this activity, students will be given a table and will have to determine whether the set of values represents a linear function, non-linear function, or not a function. Their answer will then lead them to the next question. This activity includes 12 questions with 2 different answer sheets. One where students will graph the values on the table, and the other where students will complete a mapping diagram. The teacher can choose for students to practice either graphing, mapping, or half graphing and half mapping. When students have completed the activity they will write the order of the questions that they solved, which makes it easy and fast for the teacher to check.

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
