Description

For this lab, students will be identifying the different types of rocks. Students will use the charts to try and identify the rocks by observations.
Directions:
I do this lab in stations.
-Each student gets a lab sheet; I pair up the students
-I chose 4 rocks from each type: 4 sedimentary, 4 igneous, 4 metamorphic. (Example: (Example for sedimentary: Halite, Sandstone, Conglomerate, and Shale)
-Each rock goes in its own cup (12 different rocks=12 cups total)
-1 cup goes at each station (12 stations total)
-Each station must have copies of the "Rock Identification Charts"
-You can choose how long you want the lab to run: if you want it to be a 1-day lab, lower the time at each station. If you want it to run longer, lengthen the time at each station.
