POSTERS
Includes posters or anchor charts for 45 common idioms.
Each 8x10 poster includes an idiom, its meaning, and a literal illustration. They can be cut apart and used as a matching activity or left together as posters.
These visuals are a great way to introduce new vocabulary and to hang as a reference in your classroom.
TASK CARDS
On each card, students read a sentence that contains an idiom and choose the correct meaning.

The task cards are provided in 2 formats: quarter-page size for student and full-page that can be projected onto your interactive whiteboard for whole group practice.

GAMES

Idioms Charades
Includes 16 idioms cards. Students take turns acting out the idioms while the other try to guess what it is. Includes recording sheet.
Idioms Spoons
In this game, students pass around cards trying to be the first to collect 4 cards that build a complete idiom. Fun and fast-paced! This game is modeled after the traditional Spoons card game.
WORKSHEETS
These can be used during instruction or for review. Includes 8 worksheets plus a two-page reading passage. These activities mostly focus on using context clues within the text to understand the meaning of idioms.
DIGITAL QUIZ
This is an Easel assessment. Students are shown a literal picture of each idiom along with a sentence. They must use context clues to determine the meaning of the idiom.
This is a multiple-choice quiz with embedded audio that reads the questions and answer choices aloud. Students receive immediate feedback after answering each question and also at the end when they've completed the quiz.
