Description

Supporting Indigenous Resources for Inclusive Learning for Elementary and High School Students

Through the examination of videos, articles, and the picture book, If I Go Missing, written by Brianna Jonnie, students will investigate, construct and express their findings on inquiries stemming from the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, MMIWG2S.

Experience with Inquiry projects is not necessary for this unit!

Included in this inquiry unit are step-by-step lesson instructions, activity sheets, charts, graphic organizers and peer assessment rubric.

Students in grades 5-10 will have success with this inquiry approach to understanding these tragedies that began with colonization and continued to present day.

Also.... Comprehension reading response activities to support this book are also included! Strategies used are: prediction, meaning, connection, visualization, question, and infer.

The inquiry learning process mirrors many aspects of the First Peoples Principles of Learning as it meets learners at their level and encourages collaboration for the success of the community.
