Let your students experience what it feels like to be a new resident in a foreign country with this interactive escape the classroom activity!
Students will pretend they are new immigrants to a country called "Turtle Land". Together, they will work in teams to complete tasks which involve decoding a new system of money as well as a new written and oral language. They must complete 3 activities before time runs out to "escape the classroom". The activities include:
1- Use printed coins and bills to make the correct amount of money using a made up system.
2- Use a made up alphabet to decode a secret message.
3- Follow directions via a French YouTube video in order to create a piece of origami.
