Problem-Solving Without Teacher Intervention | Transition Skills | Grades 9–12

Many students leave high school without realizing that the teachers, counselors, and administrators who helped solve their problems will no longer be available. In adult environments, waiting for someone else to intervene is a strategy that fails. That gap between school-based support and adult independence leads to missed deadlines, unresolved conflicts, and lost opportunities.

This lesson teaches students how independent problem-solving works in adult settings. Students examine a structured six-step process for identifying issues, gathering facts, weighing options, and taking deliberate action without waiting for external help.

Students develop the ability to separate the real problem from their emotional response, evaluate realistic options and their consequences, and understand why building a reliable problem-solving process before leaving high school is a core requirement of adult readiness.
