Description
This powerpoint starts off by introducing the idea of inferences as we use them in different fields (language arts, media, history, and mathematics). Students use literary skills in ready excerpts of dialogue as they infer as to where the characters are, what they are doing, students also watch commercials (links embedded in slideshow) and use inference skills to answer various questions. Students also consider how historians use inference skills to piece together history by gathering artifacts. We then move into how mathematicians and statisticians use this same inferencing skill.
The slide show also moves into defining population and sample and includes a few practice problems where students identify the sample and population of various scenarios.

Not what I needed but nice presentations
Sorry to hear that! I usually use this presentation as a "day 1" very broad introduction to what it means to infer (which I am sure you could tell from the presentation).
