Description

Do you need a creative way for your students to present their research projects? Give this mini-tri fold project a try. During our Informational Text Unit students picked their topic of choice, including but not limited to, animals, famous presidents, celebrities, and countries. The idea for this project came from having stacks of extra manila folders in storage that were not being used.

Project Preparation:

A mini tri-fold for each student was created by stapling two manila folders together.

In addition to having the tri-fold, students created foldables of their choice based on some examples I learned from professional development workshops and Pinterest.

Colored paper was provided, and as soon as they found relevant information on their topic, they transferred it onto their self-created foldables and later placed them on their tri-folds.

Presentation Day allows students to raise their tri-folds and present their information science/history fair style. The rubric provided was to be stapled/taped to the back of each tri-fold. It allowed students to check off all necessary elements completed and gave me the ability to add points and the final grade.

This document includes two versions of the rubric. The first version contains the minimum number of requirements for most students, but the second version states that an additional element of choice must be added to their project. This one was created for advanced students.

***Elements of Informational Text and Citation lessons were provided before this project was presented. I have How-To Works Cited Mini-Posters (Full Page Option, Two per Page is found on separate listing) in my store that guide students through each type of citation and a How-To Works Cited Guide if you are interested in this as well. ***
