Do your students understand the scientific method? Use this lab to find out!
Students are presented with the task of helping make a ride go faster at a local Six Flags Amusement Park called "The High Seas." The ride is a boat that swings back and forth. Will the ride go faster if we increase/decrease the weight of the seat? Let your students design and conduct an experiment to answer this question. You supply string, pennies, tape, and timers. Students supply the process!
This product includes a student handout and an answer key. It comes in WORD format, so the student handout can easily be edited to meet your needs.
*This product is written toward high school students, but it can be adapted to 8th grade by changing the first couple of sentences.
