Hello beginning band teachers,

Want a way to drill and practice the knowledge of your student's knowledge of their instrument parts? Even better if they can do it on their own device or computer!

Here you go! This google slide presentation is set up to do just that. This will drill the main parts on their instrument in a way that trains them. It doesn't score them, but rather - they have to select the correct answer on each slide to advance to the next question. If they choose an incorrect answer, the students start the practice quiz over. There is a practice quiz for Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, F Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion

PLEASE READ THE PUBLISHING INSTRUCTIONS FURTHER BELOW CAREFULLY TO BE ABLE TO CREATE A NON-EDITABLE WEB PRESENTATION OF THIS FOR YOUR STUDENTS TO PRACTICE WITH!

You can easily email the link to the students, or link it to whichever online student portal platform your district uses. Students can use a phone, tablet, or computer. (please note that it will act buggy if using an Apple magic mouse or magic trackpad with swiping/clicking)

Other Ideas:

• have your class speed race doing it as a contest or competition
• use as a review for struggling students during class if they cannot correctly identify needed parts while beginning on their instrument.
• I've also had students screenshot the last congratulations slide, and submit it as an easy assignment

PUBLISHING INSTRUCTIONS

1. After downloading this product, save (or make a copy of) it in your google drive
2. After opening it in your google drive, click the yellow "share" button in the upper right corner
3. Another window will open up. with 2 bubbled options. Click on the lower bubble somewhere where it says "get link". Make sure it is not a restricted link, and "anyone with the link" is selected. This is especially important if you are using a google drive account managed by your school district, as it may be selected by default to be restricted only in your district.
4. Click the blue "done" button.
5. Make sure the selected slide is slide number 1 (which it should by default)
6. Click the white "present/play" button in the upper right corner, just next to the "share" button. Most browsers will present in "full screen" mode, if so, hit the "esc" escape button on your keyboard.
7. You'll notice that the slides were playing out on their own automatically, and/or there was a navigation pane in one of the lower corners.
8. Find the chunk in the URL that says: /edit#slide=id.p1 - near the end of the URL
9. Delete that chunk and replace it with this: /preview?rm=minimal - then hit enter/return key
10. This is now how the google practice quiz can run, without a navigation pane or the ability to edit. It will now work with just the embedded links I've created.
11. Once you are seeing this, make sure you are on the first slide and copy the new URL in its entirety. This is the link you will use to share with your students.
