Included in the Integer Addition Lesson is a page of notes on How to show my work, a Coloring Activity, and a Card Path Activity. All of these pages support the key Critical Thinking Focus Questions: How do I know the sign of the sum? How will I calculate the sum?

Print and go substitute plans are included to give teachers a quick resource when last minute plans are needed. Answer key's are also included to support the substitute or the teacher. Students follow along and take notes as they learn how to use a t-chart for showing their work when finding a sum. They continue practicing with a Card Path Activity which will reveal a secrete sentence as they solve each problem. Students solve the problem on the start card and find the answer on the next card. This continues until a path of the cards has been determined and the sentence is discovered. The final resource is a Coloring Activity which will reveal a mystery picture as each problem is solved. The three activities will give students practice in a very important foundational skill of adding integers while keeping students engaged, helping them deepen their knowledge, but without a ton of interaction needed from the teacher.
